Of the three white tigers, one has been booked by Ambuja Group chairman Harsh Neotia. This apart, Patton chief Sanjay Budhia has shown interest in adopting a one-horned rhino.

Someone willing to adopt an animal under the scheme will have to fork out a specific amount for a year that will be used for the upkeep of animals they adopted including its food and healthcare. Names of those who will be adopting the animals will be mentioned on a plaque on the animal's enclosure.

The owners will have the right to name the animals, have access to information about their upkeep, will receive information on their treatment in case they fall ill, apart from being allowed to celebrate their birthdays on the zoo premises.

The move, officials believe, will boost conservation, spread awareness and generate revenue. While the adoption fees for tiger and elephant at the zoo is Rs 1.5 lakh, the same for bear, rhino and jaguar will be Rs 50,000.
